Writers’ guidelines

So you want to write for us? That’s great. First the bad news. We don’t have the budget of publishing giants such as News Corp. (What’s a budget again?) So while we accept you might be the world’s best writer, there is a good chance we can’t afford you just yet.

On a brighter note, we are happy to receive expressions from fabulous freelancers, with three important provisos:

  • You must have a great idea for a story suitable for TrustOrganicFood (“I’ve always been interested in writing about food and organics” doesn’t cut it);
  • You must demonstrate flair and accuracy in all written work (your mum saying you’re brilliant isn’t enough);
  • You must be able to show a history of published articles (and, no, not your school journal).

If you do send in an unsolicited article, it must be no more than 1000 words, be written in English (you’d be surprised that this doesn’t go without saying) and be engaging enough to make the managing editor want to read it over her morning coffee (and she’s quite fussy).

Please do not expect an immediate response. We have a tiny staff and resources need to be directed where they are required most. But we’re caring, sharing folk at TrustOrganicFood and we will respond as soon as we can. So if we haven’t put you off entirely, you can contact us using the form below.

All the best and thanks for your interest.
